HOW TO FIX TWO AND A HALF MEN

FUR MAKES YOU LOOK FAT

There are a lot of reasons not to wear fur. The most convincing (at least for women) should be the most obvious. A fur coat or vest makes you look at least 50 pounds heavier.

SHE REALLY IS A MODEL

When I read that Bruce Willis had a new wife Emma Heming, I clicked to enlarge the photo and sure enough - she really is a model. (In L.A. everyone is a "model"). I remembered shooting her for a fall mailer (I'm an art director). Here she is making our handbag look fabulous. I remember her as quiet, sweet and professional.

In case you don't remember - Wards was a big department store. Now she's married to Keith Richards and last year did an interview for Vogue magazine about her diagnosis and treatment for bladder cancer. I love her for this - I have bladder cancer as well, a tiny tumor, but for years you have to go for check-ups. Did you know there's a camera that goes in your bladder to look around?

FASHION TRENDS THAT SHOULDN'T COME BACK

One thing about being semi-old. You remember the fashion trends that didn't work. You wish you could pass your knowledge of the un-flattering harem pants, etc. on to other generations, but, alas - they do not listen. I never wore the furry vest, but I remember Sonny Bono in his - he was such a nerd trying so hard to be cool. Cher was much too cool for him. I was dismayed when the furry vest returned this fall  -- it adds weight in all the wrong places - it just looks bad. Your future self will look at photos from 2010 and say "What was I thinking."

Lauren Hutton is again a JCrew spokesmodel - giving tips on dressing and style on their website at the age of 60 something. Here she is modeling bathrobes in a JCPenney catalog in the 60s. Make fun if you will - a model gets paid WAY more for catalog work than for editorial. (VOGUE and other magazines.) She was cute then and she's still cute.
